The ozone revolution: High-capacity industrial series ~500 g/h to ≥ 1,500 g/h

OZW MAX

Key Features

OZW MAX is Salher’s ozonation system designed for high flow rates and demanding applications where high ozone output and continuous 24/7 operation are required. It incorporates all the modules needed to generate ozone from ambient air — compressor, buffer tanks, drying unit, PSA oxygen concentrator, ozone generator and cooling unit (chiller) — delivering high-concentration ozone ready for injection into water.

It is designed for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants, large-capacity drinking water treatment plants and water-intensive industrial processes, and is always intended for pretreatment, the oxidation of certain parameters, the removal of odour and colour, and the reduction of substances present in the water; it is not intended for final disinfection.

Applications
Benefits
  • High-end ozone generation, ranging from 500 g/h to 1,500 g/h or more, depending on the project.
  • Using concentrated oxygen (PSA, 90–95% purity) to maximise concentration and efficiency.
  • Generation by corona discharge on a dielectric, with water cooling via a chiller.
  • A complete system with two-stage drying that prevents the formation of nitric acid and corrosion of the generator.
  • Preferential Venturi injection, with mass transfer efficiencies of up to 98%.
  • Touchscreen control (PLC), monitoring of dissolved ozone and gas levels, and automatic protection against water backflow, cooling system failure, and incorrect temperature, humidity or inlet pressure, which shut down the equipment and issue a warning in the event of any fault.
  • Residual ozone scavenger for the outlet gas.
  • Tertiary and advanced treatment of effluent at WWTPs and small-scale WWTPs prior to discharge or reuse.
  • Reduction of COD, BOD and colour in industrial effluents (textile, chemical, food).
  • Oxidation of micropollutants and recalcitrant compounds to improve their biodegradability.
  • High-capacity water treatment plant.
  • Process water treatment in industry.
  • High-volume special applications such as ballast water.

Before starting treatment, preliminary laboratory tests are carried out to determine the optimal dose.

  • Capable of handling large volumes with continuous, stable operation 24 hours a day.
  • It measurably reduces COD, BOD, colour, odour and turbidity, and precipitates metals and toxic elements whilst generating less chemical sludge than conventional coagulation.
  • By generating ozone on-site, it removes the need to store and transport hazardous chemicals and leaves no persistent by-products (ozone breaks down into oxygen, with a half-life in water of around 20 minutes, compared with 2–3 hours for chlorine).
  • It improves biodegradability for subsequent biological stages, helps ensure compliance with discharge regulations and reduces long-term operating costs for chemicals.
  • Low-maintenance design, featuring long-lasting consumables and Salher’s own technical and engineering support.
